Wes Price is a Board Certified Medical Illustrator with over 25 years professional experience in science visualization and education. He enjoys experimenting with 3D illustration techniques using digital sculpting, 3D scanning, 3D printing and Extended Reality. In the 1990’s, Wes Price earned a BFA in Scientific Illustration from the University of Georgia, and then his MS in Medical Illustration from Augusta University. Wes has thrived in a variety of roles as a medical illustrator, animator and video game artist across the United States and was a member of the Interactive Division of Engineering Animation, Inc., a Fortune 500 Company that made its mark at the turn of the century in Ames Iowa. In early 2016, he immigrated to the island of Grenada to serve as faculty in the Anatomical Sciences Department at St. George’s University School of Medicine. He helped create the Center for BioMedical Visualization at SGU, which continues to be a dynamic faculty collective within the Department of Anatomical Sciences with a clear mission to pioneer the fields of medical illustration and instructional design for both education and research in the Caribbean region and beyond.
In October of 2022, Wes moved back to the United States to become the Senior Director of Biomedical and Scientific Visualization under the Education Shield at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He hopes to continue to influence the future of medical education as a vital member of the leadership team at a world-renowned institution. As a spirited collaborator with effective partnership skills, Wes has built a reputation of driving conceptual thinking and results through cooperation and encouragement. What forms the core of his expanding acumen is a creative approach to business strategies and his interpretation of trends in scientific visualization, especially in developing 3D technologies in order to best meet the needs of education.
